Beginners Courses
We run our Beginners Archery courses from October through May. Courses are run by our Archery New Zealand certified coaches, and are open to adults and children from the age of 12 years who wish to learn archery in a friendly, approachable club atmosphere.
Our Beginners course consists of four two-hour sessions held over consecutive weeks. The course covers range safety, equipment, shooting, and scoring. We provide Olympic-style recurve bows and teach Olympic-style target archery, but the skills taught are applicable to longbows, bare bows or compound bows, and to field archery or bow hunting.
No experience is necessary and all equipment is provided.
Upon successful completion of a Beginners course you will be able to shoot safely and you will be qualified to shoot unsupervised. You will be awarded a certificate that should enable you to join any archery club in New Zealand, including Randwick! Having observed your shooting, your coaches will be able to provide you with personalized advice on purchasing your own archery equipment.
Courses are scheduled according to coach availability, and often at short notice. You can check for any upcoming Beginners courses on our 'Events' page. Alternatively, you can subscribe to our mailing list below, and we will email you as courses are scheduled. Beginners courses are commonly run on Saturday and Sunday mornings and Monday evenings.
The fee for the course is $125 per person, which is due at the time of booking to secure your place.
